9 Favourite Haunts in Copenhagen

9 Favourite Haunts in Copenhagen

I have been to Copenhagen a couple of times but never during the Christmas season.  It was my daughter's 18th on 28th December so a trip to Copenhagen arriving on Boxing Day was something I had looked forward to during the 'silly' season in retail.

We stayed in Hotel SP34, part of the Brochner Hotel group.  A gorgeous group of hotels dotted around the City.  Best part they have 'wine hour' between 5-6pm where you can drink wine for free.  SP34

Hotel SP34 sits slam bang in the heart of the city in the vivid the ‘Latin Quarter’ - one of Copenhagen’s hippest neighborhoods known for a creative and cultural vibe.  You can hire bikes from all over the City but hiring from the hotel is very simple.  It's a great way of feeling like a local for the day.  There are so many things you can do in Copenhagen but here are some of my highlights.

1.Visit Louisiana museum.  Architecturally beautiful with an incredible collection of art plus a gorgeous shop.

2. Vintage Clothes Shopping - So many gorgeous vintage clothing shops.  Vesterbro is a great district for vintage clothes.  Vesterbrogade is the main shopping area which has the gorgeous HAY shop.

3. Meat Packing District - A great okay to visit whilst on bikes.  Quite a few food options. We stopped at Come Kitchen for sushi.

4. Freetown Christania

Freetown Christiania (started in 1971), also known as Christiania or simply Staden, is an intentional community and anarchist commune in the Christianshavn neighbourhood of the Danish capital city of Copenhagen.  Definitely worth a walk around.

5. Cocktail Bars

Yes, I love a cocktail bar and not just for the cocktails.   A few special ones were Lidkoeb (definitely visit the whiskey bar), but note that you have to be 23 or over (not a problem for me).  Hotel Sanders was absolutely incredible.   We stopped in and had Oysters & Champagne as a set order (one of us having the Champagne and one of us having the oysters.

6. Mens Clothing

I have never been anyway where the mens clothing is as good as it is in Copenhagen.  Three top choices,  Wardrobe 19, Maritime Antiques and Motorious.

7. Tivoli

In the heart of Copenhagen lies Tivoli Gardens, the second-oldest amusement park in the world. Christmas is a beautiful time to go.  Once January arrives the gardens close between January - March.

8. Carslberg City

Right between Frederiksberg, Valby and Vesterbro you will find Copenhagen's new city district: The Carlsberg City District. Here shops, green parks, cycle paths, historic architecture, narrow streets, playgrounds, S-train station, urban and cultural life, all make the Carlsberg City District.  I loved it there.  One of the Brochner hotels is there. Hotel Ottilia.  I very much enjoy sitting in Hotel Lobbies, can you tell.

9.  Eating

So many places to eat in Copenhagen. We had many pastries, coffees, cocktails and meals in the four days we resided there.  We were there for an 18th birthday, the girls loved Donna and Delphine, both gorgeous restaurants.

I hope if you haven't been to Copenhagen this will encourage you to do so. You will love it.
