Favourite Godalming Walks

Godalming is nestled in the picturesque Surrey countryside. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor looking to explore, here are some of my favourite walks in and around Godalming.
1. Godalming Navigation Walk
• This scenic walk follows the towpath along the River Wey offering peaceful waterside views and glimpses of local wildlife.
• Catteshall Lock: A perfect spot to watch the boats navigate the lock.
• Godalming Wharf: Enjoy the historic charm of the wharf, with its old buildings and boats.
Route - Start at Godalming Wharf and head north along the towpath. The path is well-marked and flat, making it suitable for all fitness levels.
2. Winkworth Arboretum Walk
• Managed by the National Trust, Winkworth Arboretum is a haven for plant lovers and those seeking a peaceful walk through varied landscapes.
• Azalea Steps: A stunning display of azaleas in spring.
• Boathouse: A serene spot by the lake, perfect for a rest and photos.
Route - Begin at the main entrance and follow the marked trails through the arboretum.
3. Hydon’s Ball and Heath
• This walk takes you to Hydon’s Ball, a hilltop with panoramic views over the Surrey countryside, and through the surrounding heathland.
• Hydon’s Ball Summit: At 179 meters, it offers expansive views on clear days.
Route: Start at the National Trust car park on Salt Lane. Follow the marked paths to the summit and explore the various trails around the heath.
4. Eashing and Ockford Ridge Circular Walk
• This circular walk combines riverside paths, woodland trails, and charming villages.
• Eashing Bridges: Historic stone bridges crossing the River Wey.
• Ockford Ridge: Offers stunning views over the surrounding countryside.
Route: Begin in Godalming town centre and head towards Eashing. Follow the circular route that takes you through Ockford Ridge and back to town.
5. Milford Common and Rodborough Common Walk
