A deep earthenware bowl with a honey-glazed terracotta base and a band of glossy dark brown (near black) glaze around the rim. White slip has been trailed over the edge and left to run, so it drips down the outside in uneven points and creeps a little way into the bowl.
Inside the bowl a cream slip border sits around the well like a scalloped flower, and at the centre is a spiral of hand-dotted yellow and green, applied one dot at a time, slightly out of line where the potter's hand moved on.
It's large enough for a salad or a heap of fruit, and good enough to lean against a wall on a dresser when it isn't in use. There are small marks and glaze irregularities you'd expect from something made by hand.
Hand wash only. (I have tested my bowls in the dishwasher and it is fine, but still take care)
